Places We Don't Always Clean //

Close of magazines, mug and phone on a couch

Christmas is right around the corner and although decorating the house usually makes a mess with glitter, bits of tree and tinsel all over the floor, it's hard to keep things under wraps. Some of us love to clean and others hate it but there's places we all miss when doing our everyday routine. It's time to make time and give our homes the ultimate Christmas Clean. Forget 'Spring Clean.' This month is full of festivities meaning, guests and lots of them, so without further ado, let's get on with this thing;

Tips For A Better Nights Sleep //

Free stock photo of love, pen, bed, drinking

My sleeping pattern differs each and every day, especially around this time of year as I am too excited! Sometimes I wake up groggy and other times I can bounce out of bed feeling on top of the world, so how is it possible to bounce out of bed every morning? - It could be possible if we take our sleep seriously. We all abandon our sleep for the enjoyment of Netflix marathons or to endlessly scroll through our social media or whatever we chose to do other than sleep. However, sleeping any later than 10pm could cause many issues with depression being one of the worst results of not gaining a healthy sleeping routine.  Here's a bunch of tips on how to help you become tired, stay asleep and wake up feeling revived.

Blow Dry Mistakes We All Make //

Free stock photo of woman, morning, bathrobe, bathroom

It's party season and I've been meaning to do this post for a very long time, However, I think it ties in brilliantly with the festive season. How many of us end up 'blasting' our hair with a dryer and end up a ball of fuzz and frizz? I've wondered for a very long time how my hair never seems to go as sleek as what the hairdresser makes it, but, with a lot of practice - usually on my mother's head, I've managed to find the right products and techniques for gaining runway worthy hair. Here's the 4.1.1;

CLUTTER DETOX #1 //

Ever since I can remember I've always been a neat freak. Books had to be in size order, my school bag would have to be organised and my bedroom was the worst headache ever. Now I'm older I seem to of gotten worse, I redecorate three times a year, in-between I am touching up walls with a paint brush, forever re-organising furniture and cleaning up and I don't think it's normal to be stressed out by my home. It can lead to tears and loss of sleep if I don't think my room is clean enough and wonky canvas' drive me crazy.

Memory Storage/display Ideas //

memories, photos

Many of us have a 'shoe box' full of bits and dabs that we like to think of as our little box of happiness, Where we keep photo's, birthday cards, and other little snippets from our lives. However, If you've seen 'The Vow' and have a fear of one day losing your memory like me, then you'll need to be prepared.

My life is controlled by writing about my day-to-day life in a diary and I have a huge wooden chest full of memories from past to present, no matter how rubbish a day I've had, I still write about it and I keep everything from cinema tickets to holiday flyers and of course cards and photographs and whatever else shapes me as a person.

22 Things I've Learnt In 22 Years

It's my birthday today so I thought I'd do the birthday post on things I've learnt since I've been born. So here's 22 things I've learnt in 22 years...

1 - To always read the small print.
2 - That store cards are credit cards in disguise.
3 - It's okay to have wild eyebrows or to miss waxing them  - Thanks Cara Delevigne
4 - You can do anything when you put your mind to it.
6 - Being around positive people will make your life positive.
7 - Money can't buy happiness.
8 - It is possible to find your soul mate in this place we call 'Life.'
9 - Mom always knows best.
10 - Playing with spiritual stuff, is bad for you!
11 - If a horror movie came true, never pick up a banana as your weapon.
12 - Curves are sexy!
13 - There's some really bad drivers out there and when they make a mistake, they blame you.
14 - Being heart broken isn't the end of the world.
15 - Living by plans/rules is not necessary
16 - Coffee will never be my go-to drink. Yuck,
17 - Alcohol is evil.
18 - Never judge a book by it's cover.
19 - Onesies won't keep you warm when you need to pee.
20 - My sisters will try to embarrass me at any given moment
21 - To appreciate the little things in life.
22 - Be god damn happy, and if you're not - change it! (you only live once.)

Thanks for letting your eyeballs witness the wisdom.

7 Movies You Need To Watch This Year

If you didn't know this already, I'm kind of a movie junkie. Me and my man are always watching movies and it's gotten to the point where we can predict most movies now before they've ended. However here are some films that came out this year that we kind of just watched and enjoyed without having a bet on who's plot twist will be correct. There has been some phenomenal movies come out this year, one of them being the return of Jurassic Park and of course the upcoming star wars. but, this list is filled full of movies that you need to watch before 2015 ends!

It amazes me how two criminals could go down in history and be looked up to as some form of legendary hero's. The Kray's being two of London's most infamous gangsters to ever walk the earth, are exactly that! Gangsters who people loved and still do love. I'm not a big fan of violence, but this movie really did shock me. It seemed as though there was more of a comedy spin put onto the movie that I was howling at in the cinema's. I went a little Kray at Ronnie Kray - Tom Hardy did a great job playing both characters. It has to be the best movie bought out about them. Tom Hardy looked more and acted more like them than any other actor who have played the krays previously.

2 - The Duff

Apparently every one has one and if you don't know who it is, odds are, yo're the designated ugly fat friend! My first impressions of this movie was 'oooh an updated mean girls.' It's far different to a movie about being the 'it girl' and minus all the bullying. It's a decent movie, lots of laughs to be endured and some romance too.

3 - Southpaw

Like I said, I'm not a big fan of violence and I really don't understand the sport of boxing but, this movie was on my 'must watch' list as soon as I saw the trailer. Full of very talented actresses and actors, and a brilliant story line to go with it makes this movie something to scream about. I think It was well portrayed and the emotion was definitely there within the characters, although I didn't get that lump in my throat or tears rolling down my face, I'd still say it had pulled on my heart strings.

4 - Perfect High

Bella Thorne has been apart of some amazing films this year, perfect high, the duff and big sky. It's safe to say, she's amazing in every one of them. She's part of a dance group ready for the big competitions and injures her knee which she's prescribed medication for that she somehow gets hooked on and then ends up mixing with the wrong kinds of friends and heroine is introduced. This movie was amazing to watch and really showed just how drugs can have an effect on people. It was a very emotional watch and I highly recommend for you to watch this.

5 - Black Mass

Johnny Depp is scarily amazing in any film he's assigned too, from the likes of Pirates Of The Caribbean to Sweeny Todd, This new hit Black Mass is definitely Johnny Depp at his best!
Based on the true story of Whitey Bulger one of the most notorious gangsters in US history - This movie shows you what it's like to be 'most wanted!'

6 - Ted 2

I'm a big fan of Family Guy so I knew I'd love Ted when it came out, and I did but I have to say, Ted 2 is so much better than the first one they made and it's quite surprising because sequels usually are half as good as the first. Embark on an adventure to get Ted stated as a human. It's full of so many 'LOL' moments! Me and my man, loved this and didn't stop laughing.

7 - San Andreas

Dwayne Johnson is one of my favourite actors. His films are always action packed. I was a blubbery mess at Snitch. Faster has to be one of my ultimate favourite movies and then he did Pain and Gain which he was hilarious in! San Andreas kind of reminds me a little of faster and snitch, It's Dwayne at his best in an action/disaster movie. Follow the cities trying to survive the deadliest earthquake yet!

What you waiting for? Get watching!

Life Hacks To Make House Work Easier

House work may be a chore to some and a loveable hobby to others and sometimes even a disability - I'm talking about Obsessive Compulsive Disorder which I was diagnosed with in high school. I wouldn't say I am as over-the-top as they make out on television though and I've come up with some tips to make life a little easier when doing general housework, They're fun, they may make you laugh and you may even try one or two! plus - If you think of anymore, add them in the comments! I'd love to know your cleaning cheats.

Washer Wasting Time Tips

  • We all know that the washing machine gets hungry for socks and often leaves us with odd pairs, If you haven't noticed this by now then your not really a fan of socks! Make life easier and hand wash socks so they don't get munched by the washer.

  • Chuck all colours in the washing machine and use colour catchers, ain't nobody got time for separating shit into colour groups.

  • After washing clothes, A dryer is necessary, It saves pegging out washing and then having to go into the blitzing rain doing some form of army training to get all clothes in the basket and in the house before the clothes need re-washing again! - saves enormous amounts of time and the dryer even irons clothes, It's like a multi-machine.
Because Of The Kids...

  • If you're one of those people who are constantly hoovering - STOP! put double sided sticky tape on the bottoms of your shoes/slippers and catch bits whilst you pick up the never ending trail of toys!

  • If for some reason you end up with chocolate hand prints stamped into the wall, felt tip lines, paint doodles or any other substance that could be pasted on the wall by a small child then you MUST paint the house with silk finish paint so it's easy to wipe away and saves you money and time, re-painting the house every few months.
General Cleaning Tips

  • That never ending Ironing pile needs to be put away! Don't stand for hours ironing clothes that just get creased up again! put them away and iron them as you wear them - I just saved you hours of Ironing those shirts that re-crease as you're ironing them! (if you don't have a dryer)

  • Get a spin mop - they are neccesary, why? Have you ever mopped the floors and then had to tip toe across it for something and ended up with feet marks over the floor and had to re-mop? YUP! a spin mop is the answer to a clean dry floor without the Bambi on ice routine.
+ If you have a cat or dog, they will thank you! I'm sure they have done the Scooby-doo routine down the hall a few times ! (If you don't know what I mean by Scooby- doo routine then you either haven't seen Scooby doo, or you've never witnessed your pet try and run on a slippery surface! - If you haven't, you haven't lived.)

  • Pluggins' are essential! It saves spraying the house every few hours with air freshener, it's either that or a great big candle!

  • If you're a bit of a magpie and love things to sparkle then clean all stainless steel with vinegar, even your cutlery, they will be like diamonds when you're finished with them.

  • If you live in a mansion and for some reason you don't have a house keeper, cleaning that big house must take hours, so make it a workout! -strictly come mop dancing ! (we've all done it at some point, cha cha cha!)

Critical Critter Control
  • They say conkers are good for keeping spiders out but I highly advice you keep all windows and doors shut at all times and block all vents, Okay, maybe not the vents - but don't leave windows open all day, especially in the bathroom because that's where they like to come in usually.

  • Flies - They're a pain in the backside, They play tennis with your head and poop all over your food, I suggest leaving trays of honey around so they can try a new game 'stuck in the mud.' (only, its not mud but that's an actual game, okay.)

  • Daddy long legs - ear wigs - woodlouse - moths - bees - wasps - beetles and any other bug you can think of that happens to wonder through your home likes it's a god damn museum, the same rules apply, windows and doors kept shut at all times!! - If your poop stanks then use air freshener, if you're losing oxygen buy a tank. Your home is not a playground for critters, this is a very important piece of information to store in your brain.

August Favourites// Belated

In august I had some crazy wonderful times, holidaying with my family, my boyfriend and his family and also celebrating my two nephews birthdays, Ethan and Ryan but on the beauty side, here's what I have been loving;-

Touch Of Silver Revitalising Dry Shampoo - If you've followed my blog and Instagram for a long time, you'll know that I am in love with all Touch Of Silver products. They are amazing and bottle up some of the most beautiful smelling, blonde enhancing goodness known to mankind. This dry shampoo, adds volume to hair insanely, makes hair smell glorious and really gives your blonde a refreshing boost. I will definitely be buying this multiple times.

No7 Perfectly Bronzed - The tan I love for the things it's not - It's not biscuit or coffee scented and it't not patchy. It smooths over my body evenly and easily. I get a beautiful colour from this tan and it's even better when I shower as I look more sun-kissed after every wash.

Eylure Pro Brow DyBrow - I use brow bars but there's nothing better than to have your eyebrows already at their fleak-est (its a word, I created it aha.) I get dark brows for up to 6 weeks without the hassle of colouring in my eyebrows every day.

Botanics Detox Brush - I use this brush to dry brush my skin before a shower and just after a week of using it my body looked more toned and felt more breathable. After 6 weeks of using it, my skin is still thanking me. Boost circulation, remove dry skin and tone up dimpled skin with an organic dry brush, you'll love your body, trust me!

Boots tea-tree witch hazel back spray - It's for your back, however I use it everywhere! Spots cleared up and I still continue to use to keep my skin clean and clear.

No7 Pore Vacuum Mask - I have no words other than PHENOMENAL. read my review here.

What are you loving at the moment? Let me know in the comments below.

My Wonderful Anniversary

On the 7th of September two years ago, I met the most amazing human being. We had known each other for several years but never met in person. In 2013, we got talking more than we usually did and we found that we wasn't so different. We would talk all day long and sometimes until 5am (when I had to be up at 6.) but he was worth staying up for. We said we would meet up on the 7th as we had known each other 7 years and 7 was just our lucky number.

Since meeting up that day, we spent every weekend together that year and of 2014 and we have the most amazing memories that I will treasure forever. I am in a relationship with my best friend and our relationship to me, if I could sum it up into one word would be - perfect.

So this weekend, we celebrated our anniversary as sadly, he is working today :'(. we did a lot of shopping, and a lot of eating and cuddling This is what my man did and got for me;

video

I lost my lucky necklace a while back that my nan had given me and I was heartbroken to not be able to use it any more. When I had my driving test, I failed because I was hung up that I didn't have my lucky necklace. On my second attempt, I took a teddy bear that I named 'Ted' for obvious reasons that Scott had bought for me in the year we first got together (2013). I used it as my new lucky charm, however it wasn't a charm but it did help because I passed. However, the moral of the story is that for our anniversary Scott got me a lucky coin which has 'I love you' on the front and on the reverse side 'I love you more than I can say' with a four leaf clover underneath. We got a scratch card and tested it out, From a £1 card, I won £10. It works and I am feeling very lucky in love and life right now!

He also got me a tracksuit which I haven't taken off yet, I plan on living in it for the rest of my life, it is the most comfortable, figure complimenting fashion ensemble I have ever worn and I am sooo comfy! I feel like 'me' in it. So he did a great job getting me this in my eyes.

Touched By Grave: A movie that came into the cinemas that me and Scott didn't get to see. We waited months for the DVD to come out, it never came out. The name of the film was changed and we just couldn't find it anywhere. I had forgotten all about it, but to my surprise, he had managed to get it offline for this special time in our lives and I could of cried. He is so thoughtful. p.s - we watched the movie - I was crying and I also got that horrid lump in my throat that I kept rubbing my throat to remove, but it just wouldn't go, I was an emotional wreck. (Highly advice you watch it, although US movies are hard to get your hands on.)

The Art Of Pretending To Be A Grown-Up - I've wanted this book for ages and I don't really know why I hadn't ordered it sooner myself, but Scott had remembered and ordered it for my anniversary present which also nearly made me cry my eyes out. I love Grace Helbig and the book from what I have read so far is genius! I feel more organised already just from the first couple of chapters. I can't wait to get her second book when it's out!

The last thing that wasn't planned, yesterday we went for a mooch around the shops and we ended up seeing a desk, Scott bought it for me and then we just pushed it in the car, sat in the car, looked at each other and started laughing our heads off. 'it's not every day you go out and buy a desk.' it was so random, but needed! When we got home, he helped me (pssst.. he did most the work) turn my office into a girly yet minimalist and organised office. Which I am in love with because I used to sit squished in a cupboard blogging with what seemed to be T-Rex arms (imagine it! haha.)

My Amazing New Office Thanks To My Man

I got Scott Mad Max for his PS4 and I'm going to get him FIFA 16 when it comes out. (I'll probably regret getting it though. Goodbye relationship! ahaa, I joke.) We had a KFC on Friday night and on Saturday night we cooked together (which he did most of the work, again.) It's been a wonderful anniversary as it states in the title and for Scott it's not completely over, because there's some prizes in store for when I next see him! I love surprises!

Anyway, get out of here and go be romantic with your other half.
Live, love, laugh and be happy!

N07 Pore Vacuum Mask // Review

I was so excited to get this product after seeing such great results on my sister, and once I finally got my hands on a tube, I was sold the minute I smothered it onto my face. It is by far the toughest but most brilliant face mask I have ever used. A vacuum mask works to pull out black heads and deep down dirt which this does marvellously. I was very satisfied with the results after the first use and I am over the moon with the results 6 months on. Read on to see why it's the best face mask on the market.

Back to school natural Make-up look//Guestpost

Hello everyone!

You may know me from my blog, A Sprinkle of Emily, and if you don’t then go and check out my blog at the end of this post! Today I am going to be sharing with you a natural make-up look that is perfect for the back to school season. I have made sure that this look is affordable, so all of the items mentioned are from the drug store :)

Rimmel Stay Matte primer (£5.99)

I like to prime my face before I apply make-up, as it helps keep foundation in place throughout the day. If you are wearing make-up for school it is especially important to prime your face as you may not have time to reapply or touch up make-up during the day. I love the Rimmel Stay Matte primer as it does keep your make-up on longer, and it acts almost like a glue for your foundation.

GOSH #Foundation Drops (£12.99)

£12.99 is a little pricey for a drug store foundation, but I think you should spend a little more on a foundation. I was sent the GOSH foundation drops and I really do love them. They offer a natural high coverage finish, and it is a super light formula. I'm not too crazy on the whole pipette thing, but I love this foundation as it gives a really nice dewy finish.

Rimmel Clear Complexion powder (£3.99)

When I use a dewy foundation I like to set my powder with the Rimmel Clear Complexion powder as it sets the foundation without making it matte. However, if I am using a matte foundation I will use the Rimmel Stay Matte powder alongside that. I always set my foundation using a Rimmel powder as they don’t cake up throughout the day like most powders do.

MUA blushers (£1.00 each)

I love the MUA blushers because they are an absolute bargain and they add a nice pop of colour to the cheeks. The cream blushers are £2.00, but I do prefer the powder formula ones which are only £1.00 each. These blushers last a long time and come in some really pretty shades. My favourite shades are Lolly and Cupcake.

Maybelline Master Sculpt contour duo (£6.99)

You don’t need to contour when you are going to school, but you can do a subtle contour if you really want to. I love the Maybelline Master Sculpt as it gives a really subtle contour look without it looking ‘muddy’.

Maybelline Colour Tattoos (£4.99 each)

I rave about the Maybelline Colour Tattoos all the time as they are AMAZING! You can wear them on their own or with shadows on top. They are super easy to blend and you can get them in a wide range of shades and finishes, including leather effect.

Rimmel Wonder’Full mascara (£7.99)

I try out so many mascaras, and it was really hard to choose a favourite, but I feel like the Rimmel Wonder’Full mascara gives a really nice natural look. It fives the lashes length and volume whilst still looking somewhat natural.

Maybelline Colorsensational lipstick in Pink Pearl (£6.99)

There are so many natural lipsticks out there, but my favourite drug store one has to be Pink Pearl from Maybelline. It is really moisturising and gives a nice sheen to the lips, so basically your lips but better!

I hope that you enjoyed this blog post. Thank you for reading I would love to see you over on my blog; www.emilynewstead.blogspot.co.uk

7 ways to change your mood

What to do when your feeling a little down in the dumps and overwhelmed by life's daily tasks... well, you could try any of these;

1 - Music

Let the music play, sing as loud as you can, dance as crazy as you can and really feel the vibes of the feel good beats. Exercise is brilliant for releasing stress and tension and what better way to exercise than by having fun dancing!

2 - Work out

Like I said, Exercise is brilliant for relieving stress and tension, stretch it out, run it out, whatever your choice.. just get moving and feel the stress disappear.

3 - Read

Nothing quite like escaping into a good novel, grab a book and find somewhere quite to head on someone else's adventure, read, laugh and maybe even cry. Enjoy being in someone else's shoes for a while.

4 - Meditate

Sit in a quite room with candles and focus on your breathing, have some special "me" time, think about nothing but peace and tranquillity.

5 - Plan a to-do list (that isn't too overwhelming)

have things to do? but, not really motivated.. tackle each errand/task at a time.. write small to-do lists and feel the sense of achievement when you tick it off.

6 - Laugh until you cry

Watch YouTube video's of animals or clumsy people, listen to a podcast, watch a funny film or failing that - attempt to go down the stairs on a dinner tray - okay, maybe not! just laugh, even if you stand in the mirror making funny faces, or just force yourself to laugh - you'll end up laughing anyway! Laughter is the best medicine after all..

7 - change your environment

Cover your walls in memorabilia, photo's quotes and all things positive, create rooms with calming colours, dimmed lights and candles.

Over To Maria....

Are you going to a festival and need some inspiration? Do you know what a “festival” is? At times I feel like everyone misunderstands the difference between a ‘rave’ and a ‘festival’. A ‘rave’ is any gathering of people centered around listening to and dancing to electronic music, as played by a set of live DJ's. A ‘festival’ is a music event, usually held outdoors and attended by thousands of music fans. Multiple artist’s play on usually multiple stages and on some occasions, these festivals last multiple days. In a festival everyone dresses super cute, literally. A lot of people usually dress ‘boho chic’ which is short for bohemian (use pinterest to see some outfits). Here I have created a festival inspired makeup look: which I would definitely wear if I were to go to one. Honestly, it is super easy to recreate!

"Before applying any make-up you have to properly moisturise, apply sunscreen and prime your face.  In order for your make-up to look really good throughout the day you need to get that base down."

Ardel lashes Demi Wispies

I love these lashes and I'm saying that even though it takes me forever to apply them. It just brings something more to the look; it sort of brings it together. For a festival make-up look I thought this would give it a more “out of the box look.”

Voluminous Curved brush mascara

The shape of this mascara wand is great because you really get great amazing volume.  This mascara is amazing as a base for lashes also to blend them afterwards!

The Nudes palette

This is such a pigmented palette and the quality is amazing. For a drug store product this is the best of the best. Below I have provided a picture tutorial on how I created this eye look with this palette.

The Finished Result

Chella brow highlighter

Creamy! Instead of using another concealer I’ll just use this to “sculpt” out my brows and give them a more structured appearance.

NYX Finishing powder in banana

I use this to remove the MUFE powder that I use to bake with. It just brings a hint of color that sort of prevents the “white cast” from showing up in pictures.

NYX highlight and contour palette

This is an all in one palette, which is great. The dark shade I contour with and the yellow and light brown to ‘highlight’ more with.

NYC liquid liner

After you apply lashes you want to apply some liner to hide the band of the lashes. This product is affordable and of great quality for a drug store product. Something long lasting for this type of event.

Make Up For Ever setting powder

Perfect for setting make-up in place. Recently, I started baking my concealer with this. No I don’t see a white cast with flash. I remove the excess with NYX finishing powder (Banana).

NYX Dark circle concealer

Once I've moisturised and primed my face I apply this before foundation this makes a huge difference because the pigmentation and coverage is phenomenal.

Instant Age Rewind Eraser

Once my foundation has been applied I start to highlight with this as my first product. This is amazing to conceal and highlight.

NYX pencil in milk

The pigmentation in this pencil is amazing. It is so intense and you can also use it as a “primer” or base for your eye shadow.

Too Faced Born this way foundation

Apply a few (3) thin layers of the foundation. It is not cakey so this is perfect. After this make sure you set it (after applying all your liquid products of course.)

Elf blush kit

Add a hint of colour to the cheek.  I mixed the first shade and the last shade: very blend-able and build-able.

True match powder in cocoa

After you apply a cream contour set it in place with this. Amazing powder (technically it is a face powder.)

The Finished Look

Have you been to a festival? If so, which one? I'd love to know.
Thank you for reading doll, until next time!
